Research and Production of Bionic Arm

A bionic arm works by picking up signals from a user’s muscles. When a user puts on their bionic arm and flexes muscles in their residual limb just below their elbow; special sensors detect tiny naturally generated electric signals and convert these into intuitive and proportional bionic hand movement. The bionic hand is controlled by tensing the same muscles which are used to open and close a biological hand.

In other words, Bionic arms work by picking up impulses from a user’s muscles, rather than using sheer physical strength to operate. These devices contain special sensors that detect signals generated by the muscles and convert them into proportional movement of the arm. These sensors scan the same muscles that relax and contract when opening and closing your hand, resulting in an intuitive interface for the user.

A team of engineers and technicians at e-Nable Nepal are researching this technology to replace the existing mechanical hands to improve the functionality, user accessibility and convenience of use.
